A rainbow weekend

Happypride

And then we spent the weekend with friends to watch the gay festivities take over downtown Seattle.  The local paper reported a good 400,000 people attending the parade and it sure felt like it by the time we made it over to the beer garden.  Lots of fun!

Picnic in the park

Park

It was a great weekend for spending the day laying around at the park.

Happy Weekend!

It's gay pride weekend in our little neck of the woods so I'm sure our neighborhood will have lots of activity going and that's a good thing!  Woke up this morning and the sun was out, the sky was blue...It's going to be a great weekend!  Wishing everyone lots of merriment and rejoicing....

Auntie Betsy!

Betsy Johnson helped me pick out a new travel bag yesterday afternoon.  I mean she really is the new Auntie Mame, isn't she?  I would like to be a little orphan girl so that I may be adopted by her thank you very much.

Ok, so my new travel bag is big, red in a bright, glossy obscene way and I loves it!  I took it on the bus ride home with me after picking it up at Nordstrom and people were afraid.  I thought bringing it back to work with me (shopping on your lunch hour - try it sometime) would be a bit too much.  I wish I could show it here actual size, but this will do for now.

New bag
I'm taking it to my upcoming trip to Vegas and then to Vancouver to go see Madonna.  I might wear this bracelet on both trips to frighten the locals.  Anyone out there know any leads on good mumus, write me asap.  That is all for now.

"I feel like a library..."

That's what the nice lady told me when she was checking out my armful of books that I brought up to the counter.

Appropriately named, House of Vintage, this wonderful store ended up being my one-stop shop for books.  I was disappointed that they didn't have a decent collection of dresses, but happy to find that they had a great selection of just about everything else.  The more I walked around, the bigger the place got.  It was like Disneyland for Maria.  I ended up walking away with about 7 books, but here's a couple of my favorites below.

Camping
I picked up this camping book purely for the nostalgic aspect of the pictures.  They remind me so closely of my camping childhood adventures that I really just ended up having a little moment in the corner where I found this book.

Decorate
Here's another little gem I picked up and was so excited to find.  I saw this same book for sale somewhere online at triple the price I paid for it.  In fact, this entire store was full of "Oh I remember seeing this one" moments.  Victory was indeed mine.  If Jon had been with me (I received a text message that he would wait for me at the CD store nearby) I would have turned around and high-fived him on the spot.  This one is purely for the tacky photos which I absolutely love.  The cover says: "How To Use Color With Confidence".  Uh huh, moving on.

Goldberg
Okay, this book I didn't exactly find at the House of Awesome stuff - I'm renaming it!  This book is in pristine condition and was found at Powell's our first day there.  I was very precariously reaching up and balancing on a step stool to get this one and it was worth it.  Although, it did make the man standing next to me say - be careful. Amateur!  The spine wasn't even cracked on this book which raised my level of excitement on finding this.  The type placement on the cover alone made me weep with sheer joy.  Once again, victory!

I don't feel like taking pictures of the rest of my finds, but trust me when I say that visiting this store in PDX is worth the time if you ever get a chance to go.
